I've made an agreement with "she who must be obeyed" that 12 guitars is the number.

Does she understand the "exceptions clause" where basses, baritones, MIDI instruments, mandolins, etc. do not count as guitars?

No, I'm afraid that after 26 years of marriage she's on to my "craigfoolery". I'm pretty sure she has memorized how many red lights, VU meters, keys, drums, cymbals, etc are in my studio. I tried to slide the Variax by her by putting it in the middle of a full 6 guitar rack of other guitars. Nope! That was when she made the mistake of saying "Do you really need 10 guitars?" A brief pause by me and then I said "No, 12 is the number". I figured if I went much higher than that, she'd start furniture shopping again. That's some scary scat right there!

Guitars are furniture if you buy the expensive, highly polished, pretty ones.

Family resulted in the loss of one very nice set of Premier drums with a 6" deep steel snare and 12", 14", 18" maple toms and 22" kick, with Paiste sound edge Hi Hats with a mix of Paiste and Zildjian cymbals.  All the drums were fitted with Rodgers control sound heads, Hayman Hi Hat peddle and Ludwig speed king kick peddle,  all the stands were Pearl tripods.  Sad day that all went .  Along with a significant hiatus in my music.

I kept my old Ludwig kit (with a Gretsch snare). Now, one of my kids plays it. He's added a trio of roto-toms and a double bass pedal. All of my kids played this kit at various times, but one stayed with it. Very glad I kept it around.

Good for you Bubba unfortunately the room in which my drums were kept was needed for the new arrival and there was no other place I could keep them, also the senior management was less than happy with me keeping them.
