Nice find, Larry! I was unaware of that mention - not being a Facebooker myself.

Sadly, no checks are involved. But maybe I can score a guided tour of Prague if I'm ever there.

We should lobby to get Bit the whole Melda Bundle...it would be to their benefit...
they'd get better marketing then their people could ever put together!!!

Melda stuff has a lot of impressive strengths. Very cool tools.

They have two wildly poor aspects. Their interface and their marketing and demos.

Bit explains the importance of their features so well. It's a gift to all of us.

I read it to the end, Bit. Thanks for taking the time to write it!

Not saying bit doesn't deserve it, but if Mela "gave" him the whole bundle, wouldn't that affect his credibility as a journalist?

I mean he may not want that. So before we go lobby....

Good point, Grem. Credibility and trust is everything, whether as a reviewer, talking to your boss or giving advice to your kids. Whenever my integrity is called into question, it's like a physical blow to the gut for me. I hate it. Especially if they're right.

Which is not to say I'd refuse Melda's total bundle if it was offered. There are a lot of goodies in there I haven't even tried yet. Vojtech is a pretty cool guy and I don't think he'd ever put any pressure on me. Nevertheless, I've already moved on to other things for upcoming issues.

That is an excellent article! I've been using Pro Audio DSP's DSM and it is similar, but Melda's MSD allows much more control since practically every parameter can be adjusted. The ability to change the frequency curve with the mouse is something I often wish could be done with DSM. Same with the ability to expand particular frequencies that are below the threshold, but that can be somewhat accomplished by putting an eq in front of it. I hope they will have this in one of their 50% off sales.

They will.

And thanks for the compliment, Don.

... giving advice to your kids ...

My daughter mostly advises me. :-)
Any sound going the other way plays like a soft background pad. Hopefully in key, but so soft it wouldn't matter if it wasn't. :-)

Ummmm, yeah, that's why professional journalists are bound by strict rules about accepting gifts.  Now, if Bitflipper wanted to be the Dan Worrall of Melda products -- which he would be very good at, I might add -- that's a different thing.

In any case, Bit's series of articles in SoundBytes have all been very good reads, essential for anyone wanting to get the most out of those plugins.  Keep up the good work, Bit man!

Cheers,
Eddie

I know exactly what you mean, Geoff! Sometimes it's like talking to a rock. But rest assured that at least some of it gets through.

Mark Twain said something to the effect that "when I was 18 I thought my father knew nothing...at age 21 I was amazed at what he'd learned in three years".
