The Maillard Reaction
My 19 year nephew just visited tonight and brought over his brand new Martin Custom Shop Golden Era D-18. It was refreshing to be reminded that most of the musicians I know don't seem to be aware that some folks spend their time thinking about digital analog emulation goodies.

We're going to jam music tomorrow.

I think the coolest thing is that he paid for his new guitar by working night shifts as an orderly at his local hospital.

Kids these days...

Acoustic instruments? What's next? People meeting up in person to communicate?

I've been leaving the light on... but I'm not turning the sheets until you call and say you are on the way.

A girl with 18D's would look a bit strange.
(Just sayin'...)

They do? I wasn't aware of that.

I have to say I am impressed. A D-18 is a rather lofty target for most of us.
Most 19 year old's I know are focused on the latest game or iPOS phone. The fact that he set his target and made it happen speaks highly of the young man.

ps.I took possession of my own 40 year old D-18 just a few miles from where we crossed paths in Oregon.
It belonged to my sisters late husband. It was a two way gift.  I got an exceptional guitar, and she got peace of mind, knowing it was going to a loving home.
Sometimes, life just rocks.

Hi Robert,
I hope you enjoy your D-18 for many years to come. I can imagine that it seems like an honor to have been asked to be its steward.

Your post surprised me.

"There is hope"

I have to take it that if he'd bought a Strat, Marshall and some digital processing that you'd think all would be lost?
Or was the fact that he didn't steal it or bum the coins so there is hope for him yet?

Knowing...or at least thinking I knew you better than that made me think I didn't know where the hell you were coming from. No worries though...I can't seem to make sense of half the sh1t I read here anymore and at least you're not ****ing about something that most don't give a flying duck about anyway.
Which reminds me...I did make a bucket list but I changed the "b" to "f" when it was completed.
