Of this forum.

I wonder in all the time this forum has been opened anyone has thought about the money and effort put in to it to make this forum possible?

I wonder if it were not free if the inane postings would be so numerous?

I wonder if the idiotic banter that is only humorous to a few would be tolerated if those doing it had to pay for every silly post.

I don't come here much because it is rather depressing to be here any length of time for all the nonsense that permeates most every thread. Ones that might be interesting become a home of buffoonery for no purpose. All this will be on the net in perpetuity.  How sad.

The opportunity to enlighten to have an interchange of ideas and to further our understanding is being stolen by a few that have absolutely nothing to say, none the less, say something anyway.

An occasional funny thread with real humor would be a good thing but the constant droning of inconsequential verbiage makes this place a vacuum.

There I said it. Something I have been thinking for a very long time.

Sounds like you've wasted a lot of thinking time that could have been better used elsewhere John!  Having run a few forums I do know about the money and effort required to run it - and it's a LOT less than other methods of blowing off steam and trying to deal with life issues.  There are MANY places that people gather (both physically and virtually) and no one likes all of them - or even most of them.  No one's forcing anyone to go to the one's they don't like (or understand).

I've spent years helping others and receiving help in forums, but you always have to have one like this to be silly in.  I don't remember much of anything of my 30's except that all I did was work, make lots of money, pay lots of bills and wind up single with several serious health issues for my troubles.  In the last few years I've had what some would consider a series of really bad luck (including losing over $650k to Uncle Sam and the Bank of America, having my father pass away, fighting a losing battle to get a startup company off the ground, and basically being forced to start completely over).  However, I've realized out of this that life isn't meant to be taken too seriously and that many "silly" things (like staring out a window and watching it snow or rain) now have much higher priorities than they used to.

I may have far fewer assets now, will have to move quick because the house I have a room in is being foreclosed on, will have to find new employment to pay for whatever new living arrangements I find, but...

I also no longer have any debt, have less "stuff" to keep track of, have more "real" friends to spend time with and have NO health issues.  I live far more relaxed now than when I was stressed out everyday making tons of money.  Whenever I need a diversion, I stop in here and (usually) I leave smiling.  I don't go "upstairs" much because there are too many people who either think their smarter than the rest or know they're not and are trying to drag the others down.  I just don't need to be around those type of negative people.  It's fun down here so here I'll stay.  It may be silly on the surface, but most of the threads have several layers of intellectual humor going on - much of it missed by the casual observer.  There.  Now I've said my say.  So, in addition to wondering WHY you even come down here if you don't like it, I only have one other question for you:  What the heck does "Uages" mean in your title?

I always wonder about the patheticness of someones life who takes stuff so seriously as an internet forum such that he/she spends time pondering why others would spend time posting silly or "idiotic" posts.

these are some of the questions I would ask someone who is so concerned about others writing posts which aren't directly related to the main subject of the forum:  why does it bother you?  does it offend you somehow?  in what way?  is it because you're not capable of relaxing and enjoying life enough to have a little time to be silly?  is it because you feel left out of "the club"?  were you often left out of cliques in school?  always picked last on the teams?  and so now you feel the need to belittle and berate others who have done you no harm simply because they enjoy each others' company in a medium which would not normally bring them together? would that be called jealousy?

I don't understand why a subforum like this could possibly bother someone unless they have some deep unresolved issues which cause hatred of others enjoying themselves.

why would this person feel the need to come to "the club" that he/she is not a part of and attack them for something which causes him or others no direct harm?

If this place bothers you so much John, then have it shut down.  talk to the mods about it and get it closed.

or stop whining and join in.

or just go away and be miserable in your own existence.

EDIT:  and while you're here, why not take a look at some of the threads like "The Ben Thread" where the community is gathering together to help someone.  or maybe past threads where we raised $2500 for a dying forum member, or $1000+ for a member down on his luck and had to move to a different state.  or where one forum member took in another forum member's family while they got on their feet in that new state?

judgemental posts like the OP above make me sick.  they're pathetic and narrow minded.

United Africa Green Energy Solution (UAGES) not sure how that fits in here but hey it takes all sorts to help the world go round.

Actually John this forum helps relieve some of the unknown and unrealised stress that some of us are fortunate to un-enjoy on a daily basis as part of our normal life.

Some posts are pointless but never are there contentious replies just for sake of stirring the brown sticky stuff which is what I see more and more at the top of the building.

Most of the contributors here are also willing to share their musical experience, giving access to examples of any musical exploits they have been involved with whether it be an original work, or something they have in some part been involved both professional and aspiring.  Something I have never seen from certain forum contributors they just spout their expertise with no physical evidence. (No reply expected as we are all aware empty vessels make the most noise.)

Please John climb back up to your lofty position high above put your blinkers back on and just shut up.  Leave us minions that live in the real world alone.

In other words the Coffee House respectfully declines your clientèle.

sorry...deleted my post because it was mean and hateful.
Thanks John for upsetting me. I don't like it when I'm insulted.

I think this place is perfect for guys like me who had to endure a lot of mental and physical strain when working in healthcare.

Humour is a good thing when it comes to the regular stuff of healing a body..believe it or not.

Humour is an endangered species anymore, it seems like....

Spirit of Homer Simpson please descend on me now as you can see in all sincerity I am at a complete loss for words.

I am probably destined to become a U age traveller after this completely surreal experience.

Hi John,
I applaud your efforts at sharing your thoughts in a straight forward and honest manner.

You usually rely on your false sincerity, your self styled pointless inquisitions, your clumsy yet rude suppositions, your passive aggressive asides, your haughty yet uncredentialed demeanor, your stubborn refusal for empathy, your obstinate denial of an ability to understand, and your sophomoric tendency to parse words.

In short, it seems to me that you seem preoccupied with exercising disagreement as a sport rather than as a form of constructive communication.

For example; I have rarely seen you ask a question with the intent of considering the information included in the reply... you routinely ask questions so that you can get your hands on more material to parse and further disagreement.

You don't seem interested in communicating at all, and so you often appear as a stubborn old wanna be that is primarily interested in having everyone agree with you... even when you have no idea what you writing about.

It's glaringly obvious that your primary intent is to feel real good about "John".

So, I must say, this pure expression of your thoughts and opinion is received and welcomed as gesture of your desire to communicate directly to us today.

Well done sir.

You have raised the bar, which is a greater accomplishment than some of your trollish sidekicks have achieved.

Well done.

regards,
mike
