I can find many forums (and subforums here) I don't appreciate. So I don't go there.

I can find many threads here and elsewhere I know I won't appreciate. So I don't read them.

My gf and I were at an exquisitely beautiful garden once. A true oasis in the midst of barren suburbia. While in the building at the entrance a man starting asking some questions of the people working there. From the nature  of his questions you got the feeling he was thinking that the land this beautiful place was on would be better served as a housing development.

I, on the other hand, would suggest you build your houses elsewhere.

Mike McCue:

You usually rely on your false sincerity, your self styled pointless inquisitions, your clumsy yet rude suppositions, your passive aggressive asides, your haughty yet uncredentialed demeanor, your stubborn refusal for empathy, your obstinate denial of an ability to understand, and your sophomoric tendency to parse words.

Hemingway couldn't have written that any better     :)

Dear John

I agree with every single word in your well thought out and objective complaint.

Only one slight criticism, you should have posted it HERE instead.

Even if I'm the straight man, if I succeed in bringing some humor or fun here I've accomplished something.

Jan you normally contribute to my day in a really good way.

Today is no exception.

Very kind of you to say that.  Thanks, Jonbouy

How is that flame proof underwear holding up John?

Let me state that you are not wrong. You are indeed quite right. Many threads are pointless, and I find it tedious to wean through them. A whole lot of what some find "funny", is not even remotely so.

But, is that not the point of a coffee house? Is it not better to have it here then to have this sort of thing happen in the more serious forums?

A few years ago, when the CH was shut down, that was indeed the problem. Some of us in the Song forum in particular begged, begged the Mods to restart the CH as the song forum was becoming the dumping ground for all the pointless nonsense.

But outside of the nonsense and horseplay, this is the forum with THE strongest sense of community and brotherhood I have ever participated in. As some pointed out, members here have done great things to help others in need. It is in a few words, a remarkable place in cyperspace.

Why not climb down off the soap box and actually try to relax, have some fun and participate. You will find many who enjoy serious discussions too, who are willing to engage you in whatever you want.

Try to think of it as a real coffee shop... you can participate in one or two conversations at a time, but try to participate in them all and you will go nuts (as witnessed by Bapu). Instead of scolding us across the fence, why not come around it, sit, relax, and have a coffee?

Cheers
Shad

I am flame proof. LOL  I hear you and get your point.  Well taken actually. It seems to me that interesting threads get either moved off the first page or posted to with nonsense. Then when the fun is gone so is the thread.

Clearly its not the only thing that goes on here but It could be so much better.

Thanks for at least understanding what I was saying.

In another thread we were concerned about stopping someone's drug and alcohol abuse. In this case, I recommend you start.
