Been waiting for this to go on sale. $2.99 was more than I could swing, but $1.99, OK! ;)

But what's up with that installer? You have to download and install it, and then all it does is download and unpack a rar. I couldn't tell when it was finished. There was a button that read "Pause", as if something was still happening, but the progress bars sat there at 0%. After awhile I gave up waiting for some kind of "I'm Done" announcement and just copied the files to my sample disk.

I'm impressed that they were able to make 10 separate instruments out of just 24 samples. It's because most of the instruments consist of a single sample stretched across the entire keyboard, which actually sounds better than you'd think.

These are all warped piano sounds, including a "natural" piano - if you've ever wanted a single-velocity piano that takes very little memory this would fill the need. There's a reverse piano in there that's pretty cool. It may be the only patch I actually find a use for, but you never know.

If this is your first time installing Connect then next time you run it you'll only need to select the install folder & code.
When I use it the folder pops open when it's finished, then I close Connect.

Nice that this lib works with Alchemy too although I haven't tried, along with the ability to edit parameters so you're not stuck with just a stock preset.
I guess if you keep adding $1.99 it will eventually add up but I do find a few patches usable.
I really like their Micropaks concept too, especially when you don't need a full blown or costly lib.

Ask the average Hideaway Sounds customer about this ...

I like the concept, too. Mainly because $1.99 is about my monthly budget for music software these days. Heck, one usable patch is worth $1.99. And it's good advertising - I bought Cinematic Guitars on the strength of SampleLogic's $5 demo.

But I don't know what SoundIron were thinking with that "installer". Trying to emulate Waves or NI, perhaps. Just send me a link to the files, thank you, like every other Kontakt library vendor does.

I just can't get worked up over an installer. Unless they want to charge me for it that is.

The installer has been around for a few years. It took a me few times but I'm used to it now, never had any problems using it.

Vendors like Sound Iron, Project Sam, Spitfire Audio use Continuata for less problems & errors when downloading large amounts of data & their huge sample libs..

Supposedly better dealing with interruptions, disconnects, corrupted files get re-downloaded & installed automatically etc..

There's also a manual link option.

I never use the installer, I use the manual download method. If you look in the email you'll find the link. Just put the code into the page that opens upand it will email the manual link to you :)

Duh. I didn't notice the direct link. I feel better now. Thanks, Bill.

P.S. Listening to your music, I hear some great-sounding brass and string ensembles in there. What are your go-to orchestral libraries?
