Rain

As a man living in 2014, for a limited amount of time, I already have too much on my hands, even taking into account only what matters to me. The world is going to head where it's heading no matter what I like and what I don't like. So I focus on what's meaningful in MY life.

+1
You get an Amen from me Rain

I sort of see where you are coming from with some of what you say, particularly movies - nothing ever inspires me to want to go to the cinema any more and it seems at times like every other film is a re-make, but that said, I only glance at the mainstream stuff and have never bothered to delve deeper.

I'd recommend one of the streaming services..I would never have seen gems like 'Prince Avalanche', 'The Way', 'Into the Wild' or..umm..'Machete Kills' without having Netflix.

Thanks James , I'll check those out some time. I've always avoided Netflix or any other service that demands that I set up an account before I get to see exactly what's on offer/what it costs and then also requires my credit card details for a "free" trial though.

You probably want to avoid the Nigerian division.
(Just sayin'...)

Rimshot
I was a player in 70's and 80's.
A bench warmer in the 90's.
A quarter player/benchwarmer in the 00's.
A half player/benchwarmer in the 2010's
A half wit player that loves to play and sing and not so much a bench warmer but my day job keeps me from really playing ALL the time.
So I think that makes me a play-bench warmer?
Maybe a full time player in my heart that has to sit down more than in previous years?

Yeah, that's it.

Hello Rimshot,
say, that sounds kind of like my story
it wasn't exactly an E ticket Disney Ride , yet it was a Roller-coaster ride….
yeah , we might get older and maybe even change all of our goals to fit the changing landscape of life itself .
imho, as far as what people do or what they have done , nobody can take that away from anybody ...
have a good one ,

I'm so not worried about there being any shortage of  young musical talent:

The talent pool is endless

Your beef is with the structure of the music industry that cares about physical appearance and hashtag stats.

I almost never regret listening to The Beatles.

Well, Yellow Submarine is my least favorite Beatles song.

Saturday night (20 Sept 2014) I will be seeing The Fab Faux for the fifth year in a row.

You know, Will Lee's band.

You know, Will Lee who is standing next to me in my avatar.

"I almost never regret listening to The Beatles."

I find it amazing that after 50 years, they still sound great. A testiment to excellent songwriting having longevity.

Me, too, and yet I find myself singing along every time I hear it.
