The big question is ................ of course...

Will I still be able to say "****"?

Fixed.  Next?

(I wish I had another cool 'z' word to use).

Easy fix! Change your name to Willy Jonez.

BTW I'm glad I drew the correct inference about your intentions from the initial post. Seemed pretty straightforward to me.

so far, I think this topic has been an interesting read .

What I find the most interesting (from my point of view ) is I have not heard a single peep in this thread from the people that have actually helped me along in my SONAR journey the most .

Lets not kid ourselves here ,
We all know that there are number of low profile posters that are beyond super helpful on the X forum and sub forums ….btw…..in case anybody is interested ….I happen to know that I'm not one of them

The guys I'm talking about have the ability to cut through all the BS, red tape , personality's , and games .
they seem to have the ability to directly address many of the common errors and concerns that plague even the best of us at times ….
I have always been impressed with how simple and how direct their process has been when it comes to problem solving .
FWIW …I have never felt stupid any time I have sought help in solving "pilot error " or "not knowing what I'm doing questions and problems " I have always gotten a straight forward answer .

Now, I know I don't have much say in the matter , but if you" The Powers that be at Cakewalk " are gonna be recruiting forum members to fill the position of moderation …
I do hope that some of the people I have mentioned " anonymously " (we all know who they are )  are under consideration for being mods….

all the best ,

Kenny

I think it sounds like a great idea.

there are some good people/users who use this forum who I think would make good forum moderators, ive thought this all along.
it would cut down on spam and also be of help for some threads that get out of control.
I think cake does a great job now at letting the users express their views, good or bad.
but there is that line that needs to be respected.
a good moderator wouldn't really change much of how this forum is moderated now,
he/she would just be another set of eyes to keep the flow.

any moderator, will become a whipping boy.

Seriously, how many times can you think of that these forums required the kind of heavy-handed moderation that would make someone a whipping boy?

i'm speaking from experience of having been a forum moderator for a period of time.
i have the scars on my back to prove it.

proceed with caution.

Must admit haven't had time to read all the posts but just wanted to say that I find some of the forums such as Sonar X, Software and even to a lesser extent, Hardware, absolutely invaluable and I really wouldn't like to see too much change, although I do take on board why some may see a moderator as being a good thing. Personally I don't but that's just my opinion as I think introducing a moderator could bring more problems than it would solve. Who keeps an eye on the Moderator for instance to make sure they just don't moderate "out" of the forum, someone they don't like for whatever reason??

There are administrators. A moderator who did what you describe wouldn't last long, but I also think there are plenty of people here who aren't wired to do vendettas.

Remember, I was involved with Harmony Central for five years. When implemented properly, moderation tends to be self-correcting.

Run the forum how you want to. I do however think that some people do not come here much anymore because of some other people. They seemed to have woken up on the wrong side of bed. I am generally easy to get along with, but past experience with madhatters I just ain't gonna take no more. There is no need to go into it, but I refer to them as other people do nowadays - bullies, and too hard to get along with. I have my own family, this forum is not my family, it is forum, and chummy don't look like it is going to happen, nor especially would I have any time for that kind of stuff. Stubborn people we all can be and easy to be reading things in the News or whatever. But I tend not to take it out on other people, while some people do do that. I am not going to take abusive people at any time, the answer is no, and if I hear that I can not do something according to them, when it is not ridiculous then that will be that.

I don't run the forum and I never will think that I am that important to think that this forum is the only thing in the world there is. To me, it is not!
Nor do I feel the need to explain myself, the damage has been done already, but when accused of doing drugs, or being spammed by someone just because they think they can do that stuff, that is enough. I should have complained at the time, in the future, not even anyone in this Country is going to put up with that kind of stuff.

Well, that makes no forum or anything else to me in the end.
Goodbye and good luck for the time being or whatever.

Actually. that brings up a good point: If a team of moderators was in place, you would have had someone to complain to.

Then again, sometimes just the fact that a club has bouncers makes people behave and the bouncers don't really have to do anything.
