I am so happy to see that the school I do some work out of is unboxing a buttload (no, I don't know the exact mathematical formuala to calculate the value of buttload) of brand new instruments.  A few years ago our district cut 5th grade orchestra and sold off all the instruments.  Apparently they have corrected that mistake and have devoted a good chunk of budget to bringing it back.

Depressing, yes.
Anyone who's interests are outside of economy/math/IT is feeling ... well like an outsider.
The "traditional" general education  ( history, biology, languages and similar humanistics)
doesn't easily give you decent incomes anymore, not to mention any form of fine arts.
