When the 'official' cost of the royal family is announced, they never include the amount spent on security.

Little wonder, the amount deliberately omitted from the last set of accounts is estimated to be around £102,000,000.

Funded by the Metropolitan Police, hence funded by Joe Public.

On the plus side we'll hopefully get rid of the sweaties next week, so that should save more than enough to buy some extra farleys rusks and pampers.

If we don't, we could always start a campaign for English independence from them.

Nobody has mentioned this possibility.

Absolutely. Always thought it odd how the majority of the people the decision could affect are excluded from the vote. Probably because we know what the result would be in the case of a full vote and for reasons that I have yet to see be fully explained they don't seem to want that outcome. Red Ed  I can understand as they would lose a lot of seats, not really sure why the others are that arsed one way or the other really.

I hear Alex has already been to see Liz to discuss the details....

"How nice to see you Mr Salmond"

"Nice to see you too Ma'am, Now, what are we going to call Scotland after we win Independence? How about calling it a Kingdom, and then I will be a King?"

 "No, we don't like that"

"What about an Empire? Then I'll be the Emperor".

" No, we don't like that either"

" Alright then, what about calling it a Principality? Then I'll be a Prince"

" No Mr Salmond, I think we will call it a Country".

It's a good thing we Americans don't understand British politics.

I wouldn't give a flying feck who is head of state, how many of them there are, how much they cost, or who pays for them, providing they are democratically elected - I'll happily abide by the decision of the majority

I agree.

Could work.

Like a 'Lord Protector' Cromwellian figure? Someone from the people, for the people?

Yep. I'm warming to this.
