What are you using for a desk? I'm looking for something new and simple. I'm thinking about checking all the local thrift stores and IKEA. I think I just want a table with room for small monitors (speakers) and use stands for another pair. Room for a keyboard and a couple of 24" video monitors.
I hope you like the color.

Stuff that's usually hidden...

Is that a coffin?

I wish - wouldn't a coffin make a stunning rack? :P

Julien,

The desk is an inexpensive black desk we've ordered from amazon.

I particularly love the fact that my little Alesis 49 keys midi controller perfectly fits on that keyboard shelf.

Mine look a bit different because I've closed the back w/ a piece of fabric, mainly to hide all the cables. Then...

When we moved here we bought new furniture for the bedroom and were left with an extra dresser and 2 extra night stands. All black, of course. :P

I felt like I could use the storage so I brought the dresser in the home studio and initially placed it in the closet but then decided that I could use a bit of spare room on my desk so I got the dresser out and placed it behind my main desk, which allowed me to push back the monitors a bit.

I also use a black shelf I got from home depot which I placed on a pair on concrete blocks, so that my monitors would be at the right height. The concrete blocks have since been re-assigned and the shelf lays on my old unused monitors.

I also use the two night stands, but they move around constantly, depending on where I need them. Some times I use them as extension for my desk, sometimes they're back in the corners w/ lamps on them.

We're getting there, slowly... :)

Done. Had to paint the whole thing 3 times to really cover up the white.

But it was worth it. And it feels like getting back home after years!

A few crappy pics, made worst by the absence of daylight which makes my old iPhone 3G's camera even suckier...

Actually looks better in person - iPone pics have  tendency to make thing looks even more squeezed than they are.

See if you can find an HDR app for the iPhone.  That will make the picture look really good!

(It should take three pictures:  Over exposed, normal and underexposed.  Then it puts them together to capture all the detail and correct coloring.)

Craig - I doubt there'd be anything out there for my old iPhone. It was already on its last leg when I bought it 5 years ago...

Bat - not yet. Now that the paint is done, I'm starting room treatment and after that, I'll look into ARC.

Well, I, for one, would definitely feel depressed and aggro in that studio now!  Good job!
