I just got an email from Steven Slate thanking all us great users for the outpouring of support and understanding over the FGX and VCC problems thingy whatever.

What problem thingy whatever????

He sent a prior email, received here on 8/29, that profusely apologized for delays in AAX implementations, among other things.

New update on the VMS ("Virtual Microphone System") -- initial product will be a scaled-down version of what was originally envisioned:  we'll get a single-channel preamp, one LDC mic, and software that emulates a range of classic mics and pres.  Price should be around $1K.

Pretty cool idea ... we'll see how it performs when it comes out, which could occur anywhere between 2 months from now and the end of time.

Cheers,
Eddie

Yup - I seem to remember reading about AAX/Pro Tools issues.

I should add that the VMS thing is not to be confused with VMR ("Virtual Mix Rack"), a plugin whose release should be here shortly.  "Shortly" in Slate terms, that is.

When it appears, VMR could render all your current channel strip configurations obsolete.  That's the aim, anyways.  Two vintage-style compressors and two EQ modules, SSL and Neve emulations, will be included.  Last I heard, price should be $150 or so.  Really looking forward to trying this one.

Cheers,
Eddie

There's no Pro Tools AAX because there aren't any AAX plugins.  (I just wanted to say that out of a bit of anxiety but it's not really true.)  Actually there are some AAX plugins by Slate but we're waiting on the VCC and the FXG plugs to get an AAX version.  The biggest issue has been release dates that were publish and not fulfilled.

We get a bit of relief by using an adapter like Blue Cat Patchwork or MB-7 to host the VST versions.  I open projects up in PT10 and use the RTAS versions if I get a project that needs them.

Drop the "K" and I'm in for about a dozen of them.
