Or are you asking if anyone has a song that they would like to do in the same fashion?

don't give up on it 'cos no one bites after 4 hours.

Why not? He can build a guitar in something like 3 hours.

No reason to apologize James. I'm not exasperated. Sometimes questions aren't as easy as they may seem I guess.
Of course the question(s) isn't hard when one knows the answer and either one does or doesn't.

Besides...it's something I can do and enjoy alone. Just thought it would be a fun group "thing"...I was apparently wrong.

I woudn't mind doing it, but it might take me a while. It's a good idea, don't give up on it 'cos no one bites after 4 hours.

I was giving up on me trying to explain the idea.

It would take me awhile to redo the only one that I would care to. I can sure relate to Beepster in that most of the tunes I don't care to redo...not burnt out though, just no interest and would rather write new.

It's really about hearing the difference between recordings over a period of time. Thought that was a cool idea because I realized today that I would enjoy doing that tune again and enjoy hearing the results whether good or bad.

So good!!
So far there are MAYBE two of us.

Michael,

Are you saying you want to take your first digitally recorded song, and with the help of contributors here, completely re-record the song?

No. I want to hear any differences between a recording I did about 10 yrs ago and posted here in the songs forum and what it would sound like if I did it now.

Maybe it's the part about what "one" person does that's making it confusing. I always thought that the digital recording process was great in the fact that one didn't have to have other musicians to record a tune...so it's an instrumental that I did alone and would do again alone.

It's just a sound comparison that may tell me if should focus ALL my time on building guitars in 3 hrs rather than months and months LOL.

It may demonstrate a truth that I really don't want to know!

Maybe I had to many questions asked in a to condensed manner...so;

1. Do you have a tune that you recorded (alone) and posted here in the songs forum years ago?
( would be cool to know how many years between the two)

2. Is it a tune that you like enough to enjoy starting over from scratch?
( a story behind the tune...interesting to me)

3. Is that something you would do and post both of them together for comparison listening?
( Things change with time. Not only recording abilities but playing/hearing/ideas so if it was a rock tune and you now hear it as a country tune or whatever...fine. Then and now.)

If so I think it would be cool if all the folks that did started a thread in the songs forum so all of them would be together for us to check out instead of a crazy number of different threads.

Naturally it would take different folk different times to complete the new take but if we had a reason we could get
started on doing them.
It would probably take me a month or two due to other obligations but IF it was to do with a group of friends I'd jump and make it a priority to complete.

I think it's a great idea but sadly I probably won't be able to participate for another five years or so with anything worthwhile. I still need to write and record my first versions. lol
