Kenny,

I use Samplitude Pro X quite often...it's one amazing piece of software....and VASTLY underated.
It loads almost instantly, comes with a "restoration suite", and the stock plugins and instruments
are most worthy.

So I can imagine Sequoia, for high end Video Production work, would also be quite worthy....

but i really don't see what it can do sonar don't ?  maybe the metering and restoartion suite but reallly the core of the app is quite similar with a + to sonar imho when it comes to production ...

IMO, The "core features" (recording/editing/mixing) of just about every multi-track DAW application are quite similar.
The GUIs are also pretty similar...

Sequoia has additional features that are suited to dialog editing/replacement... video post-pro... etc.
It's a specialized version of Samplitude.
If you need those features on a regular basis, it's worth the cost.
If not, there's no reason to spend the extra money...

Lots of good features that many of the other DAWs don't have.

well i don't know the details , but all the higlights (dithering quality powr ect ...that we have since decades ect ..) is some i'm really not conviced .....

Pyramix has stuff that conviced me back then because it does stuff that few or no daw does , ,just the way it handles core (cpu) is a must ....( check this out : http://www.merging.com/products/pyramix/masscore )

But magix stuff , while it 's on my top 5 best daws for sure , are nothing more nothing less ....than sonar , studio one ect ..

I would think, that as an instructor at a learning institution, you would delve a little deeper into your subject before making statements that reveal such a cursory understanding.

If you take a moment and consider the capabilities of Sequoia you may figure out that you are comparing Notepad to Quark... so to speak.

The Object based editing (Object = Clip in Sonar) in Samplitude/Sequoia is extremely powerful.
This is something no other DAW offers (Reaper's Item Editor is similar but not as full featured).
Lots of realtime/non-destructive control over each Object/Clip...
Fades including advanced tapers, gain, phase, swap L/R channels, EFX (including sends), etc.
Using the Object Editor, you've got advanced "snap-shot" style automation.

Keep in mind that Samplitude has had these features for 10+ years.
Back when Samplitude Studio 4 first arrived, it was ground-breaking (the amount of realtime control).

I would like to see a great news room editor run the Edit and Export while Recording feature in real life, and watch a project go live while it was still being produced.

That would be something to see.
