"Winter was brutal, but when you're born and raised in that stuff, that's just the way it is."

I grew up in a town of 8,000 in MN, about 45 minutes from Canada. Four wheel drive or snow mobile got us to about anywhere we needed to go.

I remember battling the heat and boredom that came from growing up in San Diego, California...  It seemed like it was 82 degrees and sunny every dang day!  Not sure how I survived...

Hang on, Rain. There are other models to consider.

I've seen this one earlier this year, at one of my favorite place in the Alpha Quadrant:

No need for a car here in Manhattan either. I cannot believe how many people drive into the city. They just end up stuck in gridlock and then another 30minutes finding a parking space (15 blocks from where they're going). I complain about the subway but boy is it fast compared to driving. Even making the stops, it's still twice as fast as a taxi. I'll take a cab once in a blue moon and instantly regret it once we're stuck in traffic.

We drove from Montreal and into NY the last time - which was totally worth it. Coming into NY at that time of day it was incredible. Once there though, just bringing the rental car back, a few blocks from where we lived, was more than enough to know that subways were a much better option. Or even the lousy busses.

Yes, I've heard that the winters in MN can be really harsh.

And I thought some of the winters growing up in Toronto were bad, but it looks like many of the north/north eastern states can get really socked in.
