Very interesting.

Reason 8 is going to have Softube amp sims replacing the Line 6 amps.

Will be nice to have officially authorized Marshal amp sims.

Now if only Vox would do one of these agreements.

I would LOVE to get rid of my Amplitube 3 , which I only use for Slash addon pack that has a Marshall amp and cabinet sim.  Otherwise I use my Avid 11 Rack hardware for modeled amp and cabinet sims.

Vox is owned by Korg, their Modeling is incorporated into some Korg products.

...but I don't think I'd be willing to pay much more than 20% off of half price.

First result of this collaboration: USB ports on your Marshall head so you can plug in your iLok.

Don't laugh, I did something very much like this. Ampeg had the idea in NYC and I tried it many decades later. You replace the AC power switch with a key switch. It can be useful if you deal with shared rehearsal space. You chain the amp to the wall and only give the key to guys that had paid for amp rental.

Can you imagine what would happen if you had an amp that had to log in before it could rock out?

There's a fly in the ointment here.
Jim Marshall est morte.
Ken Bran is an old man.
The "kid" (I forget his name) who helped Ken and Jim est morte as well.
Dick Denny and Tom Jennings are gone.
You really think VOX and MARSHALL are anything more than trademarks?
REALLY?
Korg owns both of them, don't they?
I can get a pretty convincing "Plexi" sound out of Amplitube3, close enough for my ears.

Wasn't it the musicians who had that idea? A relatively small group of session players figured out that everyone was using the same model (Reverb Rocket?) amp and carting them around NYC in cabs and trains was a pain so they formed a small time share club.
