I downloaded a demo of Nebula and was pretty impressed with what I heard; so I'm thinking about buying a copy.  Anybody here use it, and do you have any thoughts to share, pro or con?

I've been using it a few years now..There's alot to explain about how it functions, operates, cpu issues & workflow.
Very briefly it has by far the best console & tape emus available, some of the best eq's.
CPU hit is very heavy. I use about a dozen in my regular projects &  use them exclusively when mastering.
At the moment it can't do compression very well but they're working on it. There's a new version of nebula coming in November IIRC.
 
That being said a few instances of Nebula can do what some are constantly trying to make sound like analog using manglers like MB & Dynamic eq's that typically only degrade or mask sound quality.
Nebula does the opposite & enhances your tracks, 'lifts the veil' as one dev puts it.
 

If I had a dime for every time some marketing department used the phrase "lifting the veil" to describe their product (hardware or software) I'd never have to work again :)

Thanks for the reply.  Like you I was impressed with the consoles and tape emulations.  They sounded very rich and alive.
 
One thing I did find a bit baffling about Nebula was exactly how to use it.  Have you found it difficult?  I've searched for a manual online but haven't found one. 

My projects are usually mixed to stems.

One way for consoles is to use an instance of the line in on each track or stem mix, one snd instance on each fx buss all routed to the 2 buss with an instance of the mixbuss.

I always get a nice full sound, no need for buss comps (which I rarely use) but a bit of gluing/ cohesion. Plus as I said no need for MB Dynamic mangling which I might occasionally only use for surgical chores & tracking, never for mixes or mastering.
 
You need a bit patience with this software so don't expect miracles right away. Everyone's workflow tends to be a bit different. Try not to get frustrated as many do, the results can be excellent & much better than many of the easier to use algo's.
