But point this out to the steaming Facebook crowds who think it's just SO adorable and cute, and you're a "hater."
LOL - Man, I was having a beef with the word "hater" only yesterday. Talk about a way to oversimplify and put a label on things. How lazy!
Hater... It's basically name-calling. And just as useless as saying "I'm offended".
I think the word is symptomatic of the infantilism of young adults, especially the Millennial generation, along with an obsession with cupcakes and everything being fricken "adorable" and "like OMG soooo cute!!"
Basically anyone who disagrees with them or refuses to kowtow to their every whim "hates" them. So where does this idea come from? Childhood adolescence. It's how kids respond when you deny them something.
No you can't borrow the car: "Why do you HATE me?"
No you can't stay out late: "Why do you HATE me?"
No you can't have new sneakers: "Why do you HATE me?"
Whereas previous generations would, on the whole, grow out of this emotional immaturity, it now persists into adulthood. Hence the use of the word "hater" for anyone who disagrees with them.
I read an article recently about how Millennial girls have adopted the speech patterns of small children. And I hear this every day on the subway.
