And although it sucks that ot was delayed, I'm of the school of thought thay I would rather it be right than quick if I have to choose. I suspect if they released it earlier it would have been a far less significant upgrade.

Sometimes I think software companies can't win. If they release an upgarde annually theuvare accused of "milking customers for money for features that should have been in the last one". Fore it always comes down to did I get what I paid for. Most obvioisly felt they got what they paid for enough to even expand on that product. Not one person bought 2 or 2.5 with the expectation that 3 would be free.

I think a 5 year delay is just ever so slightly excessive...but that's just me Dub...

I'm looking forward to getting my boxed upgrade version. I don't always get things done when I say I will or want to, either.

I won't deny that, but to put it into perspective, in thay time I have upgraded photoshop about 4 times and only the latest contains something truly worthwile for my use. I guess if ST 2.5 became obsolete to you 5 years ago you were horribly screwed. I know people who still use ST2.x now making contemporary music. My son loves it. I used it for our xmas EP and it sounded great.

I really do see why you are ticked and it looks like IK lost you as a customer, but I guess I did not ever feel cheated in the same way you did.

It seems to me that no one really cares...

But the majority in the this forum won't be buying it...
those of us who know the full story...and there are many.
And on KVR many are dumping their IK stuff and can't sell it...

IK succeeded by selling off programs that the majority of the it's long time PC users paid THOUSANDS
for for $29 and buy one get 4 FREE to get all the newbies on board to sell this NEW product to...

Good for them...GAS and Corporate GREED win again!  That's really no surprise!

So...on with the show boys....

The next version comes out in 2024!!! or Later...and will only cost $ .99 because it will
be an app....on a transparent glass tablet...

No harm...no foul....who really cares about the customers who got screwed?  Obviously not
those who are here...they'd kick them to the curb for a chance to play with a new toy...
and obviously NOT IK...they're in it to make money right?  So who cares about long time
customers?  They got a product...even if they did get screwed, and lied to....it's ok..it's
just a company...

That's all ...have fun!

Time does tend to change value. For fun, somewhat archival purposes and because the guy who made it is endlessly cool, I'm converting over a 200+ instrument soundfont to Kontakt. I suspect some of the instruments I'm getting out of the soundfont sound as good as Sampletank 2 instruments. It certainly isn't worth thousands in the current era, in fact I doubt I could sell it if I wanted to (ethics of public domain aside). If he had wanted to sell this 1.7 gig soundfont back in the day he could have named a pretty hefty price and gotten it. ST2.5 sells for about what its worth on those buy 1 get 4 free sales, IMO. It's old, fun and retro and that's cool but not worth a BIG bill. I got it that way and I'm glad I did, but if I'd paid KU money for it, I'd be pissed.
If they could have gotten sounds like ST3 a decade ago, certain musicians would have given you half their kingdom. Now I'm getting it for a 100 bucks.
I don't see what folks wanted IKM to do with ST2 price wise? Sell it for more than KU in 2014?

Proteus samplers were apparently very expensive too. Its ridiculous to it is bad business when a company sticks around in such a fickle business as long as IKM. Steven Slate is another who catches a lot of grief, he has sales and the early adopters are foaming at the mouth.

Pay for what you can get now, dont put yr own expectations on what the software should be doing down the road. dont even expect bug fixes, pay what you think the software is worth at the time of purchase in its current condition. or dont buy it.
