How does waves updating work?
Do you need to subscribe to keep your plugins uptodate?

Only for a major version change...

Minor revisions are always available...But if it were to go from Version 9 to 10...then you
would have to have your WUP up to date to get the upgrade.  Also, if your WUP isn't up
to date, and you own bundles, when plugins are added to the bundle you won't get them
until the WUP is renewed....it's basically "insurance" for your plugins...

Strangely enough, it tells me that:

None of your products can be updated to their latest version. Possible reasons:
  • There are no registered products in your account. (yes there are)
  • All of your products are already at their latest version. (really? the only one that's marked "latest version" is J37)
  • Your products' update plan is not current. (but isn't this a minor update?)

I got that too. Then I saw all my products were already at 9.2.0

Is that the latest version? And will that work with studio rack?? I'm still confused. Natch.

Seems strange. Some of that stuff I bought and installed way back when Waves dropped iLok (2012?) and I don't remember updating any of it.

If you've bought ANY new plugs since 9.2.0 they all get updated...even eligible older ones...in the install. That's the way the WOLI works.

Most of my Waves stuff was old when I bought it, so I really don't ever expect it to be updated. WUP is a complete scam unless you have one of the large bundles. The WUP fee for my ragged assortment is at the max. It would cost the same if I had a $5k bundle.

Love the product but hate the WUP and the illusion that things are actually being updated.

I have re WUPed only once. And the only "free" plugin I ever got was the Maserati group plug which was released about a year after the Sig set. It's pretty screwy, I agree. I suppose if and when they go to version 10 I'll be faced with a hard decision. Or not:-)

Same here - when they do go to 10, I'll re-evaluate whether or not I should WUP.

TBH, I don't use their plug-ins all that much - but there are a few which are still irreplaceable.
