  • Sampletank 3 - me being lazy here...

Didn't feel like reading 20 pages to find an answer to a few simple questions, so here goes...

1 - Is all the 30 some GB of content available for download or do we have to wait for the DVD?

2 - Is that content redundant, does it include some or all the old content PLUS the new stuff?

3 - For those of you who've upgraded, how are the other add-ons and libraries (Sonik Synth, SampleMoog, Sampletron, etc) working in ST3?

4 - Navigation-wise - is it possible to navigate through libraries, patches and presets using your keyboard arrows? Maybe it's just me who need figured it out but ST2 was a mouse click fest.

I think that's it for now...

1 All the content is in the download.

2 All the sampletank 2.5 and some of the Miroslav stuff is included so there is some redundancy.

3 I only have Miroslav and that's working fine.

4 not sure I will check later.

Some have mentioned problems importing legacy content but it went smoothly for me.

I just checked and the arrow keys cant be used when browsing patches (on Windows).

To expand on earlier answers, Miroslav is working fine and its nice to be able to use it in the new interface. It will get a lot more use now. Getting more use out of Miroslav was my prime reason for upgrading.

You have to download and install the whole kit and caboodle, given the choice I would have skipped the loops and construction kits which I am unlikley to use.

I have been auditioning the new sounds. They are decent bread and butter sounds but nothing has jumped out at me. The drawbar organs are nice, but they are just fixed regestrations.

I don't think I will use the pianos, guitars and basses much, it's not that they are bad, I just have better alternatives. Some of the others may come in useful.

A lot of instruments seem to rely on effects which is fine as long as they end up sitting well in a mix. Time will tell

At which point I realized that ST3 was 64-bit only - which is a great thing for 99,99% of users but not for me, who's still working with Logic 9 in 32-bit mode.

I could run it in 64, but there'd be no real advantage for me, besides being able to run ST3.

So I guess I'll wait - at least until the good folks at IK do implement arrow key navigation. For me, that's practically more of an issue than 2.5's small GUI.
