I finally watched Kill Bill 1 & 2 last night.

Not absolutely bad, and some cool stuff, but I don't get what the heck people see in those movies that they've become sort of a cult thing. I'd heard so much about them and there's so much praises for Tarantino, but those movies are pretty average and excessively self-indulgent.

Worst than that - he completely lost my attention during the big showdown in the first movie AND in the long and verbose scene leading to the death of Bill in the second one.

Maybe all the hype around Tarantino makes me a harsher critic. But I don't think so - objectively, I found that there were interesting things but tons of weak points too.

I appreciate clever recycling of styles and clichés but I don't think there was anything too clever there.

To me QT movies, film geek stuff aside, are mostly just better versions of trashy B movies.

I think they rate pretty well in that context.

I loved everything about Pulp Fiction - such a cool vibe to the whole thing IMO  and I can watch that time and time again. Reservoir Dogs was ok and I would watch again, but Kill Bill lost me completely tbh. Never even bothered with the second one. Haven't seen any of his others.

Have you ever seen Seven Psychopaths ? QT esque in a way but if you like em dark, yet funny with a few twists thrown in, it's a winner.

Brilliant movie. Directed by the guy who did 'In Bruges' (also with Colin Farrell). Christopher Walken was superb.

Nope - I'll check it out.

I dug Pulp Fiction and appreciated Reservoir Dogs too.
I don't think I've seen any others, besides Kill Bill last night.

The minute the big showdown started, all I could think of was Fist of Fury and how even with so little means the Bruce Lee movie was a hundred time as exciting and fun as Kill Bill.

By the time she finally got to the boss, I just couldn't wait for the movie to end.

QT -the epsode of CSI he directed was excellent..he obviously has a thing about being buried alive. I like a lot of his movies  - Death Proof, Pulp Fiction, True Romance,  but some miss the mark. Fell asleep watching Django Unchained.

While I haven't seen most of Quentin's movies after Pulp Fiction...which I thought was pretty good. I think he's gone steadily downhill since Resevior Dogs...which was great.
