I also recently pulled up an old project of mine, and was surprised at how good the drums sounded in it. I had to look to see what I'd used - surprise, it was the TTS-1 brush kit, albeit heavily processed.

One of these days I'm going to visit some of the kits that have long languished unused on my disk drive, like Session Drummer, SI-Drums and Dimension Pro. I'll bet there are some interesting possibilities lurking in there if I took the time.

Exactly Bit...it's not always the "quality" of what you have...it' HOW, the "Imagination", and the "musicality"  behind
using it.

The question isn't whether you need MORE drums, it's whether you need BETTER drums.

Good comment. Got me thinking...what does "better" drums mean?

I was listening to some old Creedence tunes recently, and noted how awful the drums sounded. Like oatmeal boxes. With oatmeal still inside. But I couldn't imagine anything else in those songs. A deeply-sampled high-fidelity multi-miked drum library wouldn't have fit nearly as well.

Hey, believe it or not, I had the same thought listening to some CCR recently.  If that's the sound you're going for, great, but if that doesn't fit with your musical vision, then "better" means something that does.

I wouldn't be surprised to find a Doug Clifford drum library out there somewhere, for those who dig the sound of oatmeal boxes.

Cheers,
Eddie

There's no substitute for talent.......guys (like Bit) who can make gold out of crap have good knowledge in how to use it. That is priceless!!!

The rest of us (speaking for myself) need lots & lots of good plugins/software!!
