  • Can't sign in as SteveStrummerUK. Is this is not good security-wise? Any ideas?

I cannot seem to figure out how to sign back in as SteveStrummerUK.

What's worse is that I can't actually sign out as Straummy

Here's what happens:
  1. I'm logged in as Straummy
  2. I click on the Log Out button and this screen appears:

  3. If I click on the To sign in again: Click here link:

I'm immediately taken to my Straummy log-in details page - and I do not have to enter a password at any stage.
  4. If, when I'm supposedly signed out, I click on the Community > Cakewalk User Forum link I'm automatically signed back in again as Straummy; again - I do not have to enter a password at any stage.
Aside from the fact that I'm now apparently locked to only one possible log-in on this computer, how can this be more secure than previously when anyone can log in as me without ever having to enter a password at any stage.

Any help/advice greatly received from anyone else who's struggled like this

Log out. Delete your browser cache and cookies. Then try. If that doesn't work I suggest you PM Ryan.

Find the cookie called Cakewalk-SSO and delete it.

Then Ctrl+F5 to force reload.

As others have mentioned - you most likely have multiple 'Cakewalk-SSO' cookies.

We just released changes that more aggressively expire these cookies if you get into this condition so it shouldn't happen anymore unless you are using a browser add-on or something that tinkers with cookie expiration.

Slightly OT.....

Mine worked fine yesterday, nice shiny new account page that for the first time ever displayed all of my registered products. Today, signs in to forum ok, go to my account and I have to sign in seperately as before and then get directed back to my old format incorrect account page. WTF ?

Back OT.......

Never understood the need for people to have multiple user names and was hoping that this single sign-on thing was going to finally put a stop to that pointless practice  - maybe it has ?

Thanks all for the input guys, I had cleared my cookies to start with, but to no avail.

Then the forum went a bit pear-shaped.

Then I was returned correctly to the sign-in screen.

I'm back.

Yay!!

Perhumps that's the problem on my laptop as well. I shall try it first thing tomorrow.

Never understood the multiple login thing myself either.  It dilutes your post count.
