When I managed the King's Table in Pendleton, I decided during my first Christmas there that I wanted to have a LIVE Christmas Tree. And I got one. When the 2 weeks were up, I planted it outside one of the windows, about 5 feet away fro it. I knew then, and there, that this building would make it, and be there as long as the tree did.
3 years after I left, to go to another King's Table, and this was a year after I left and was done with the restaurant business, I was told that some manager thought the tree was annoying and hid the restaurant from the side (it wasn't facing the street!), and had it taken down.
That restaurant, was closed down 6 months later.
Somethings, sometimes, were about a sense and love and time and place ... that was no longer appreciated by anyone. The tree was done! But worse, is the thought that something valuable and worthwhile was wasted because some folks simply didn't give a ****!
