  • Does anyone else pay tribute to things when throwing them in the trash? Or am I nuts?

Can hardly believe I'm admitting this. A favorite pair of pants split on me today. They were a pair of rough and tumble Kuhl's that I've worn at least 2 or 3 times a week for the last couple of years. I absolutely loved them. They split down the side as I crouched down to pick something up. And as I was throwing them in the trash, I said "You were a good pair of pants and I really enjoyed wearing you. Goodbye buddy."

I think I've done this before. I seem to remember thanking my Brother Inkjet when I took it downstairs to the trash last year.

I've got a place near me that somehow can repair pants like new when they split.  The last time it cost me $8.

But, then again, you're nuts, right?

I have paid tributes to things dear to me I finally had to let go of. Sometimes it's been that comfy pair of shoes I loved despite being worn to uselessness or that piece from clothing that is out of date and finally accepted will never come back..

I think these were beyond that unfortunately.

About the time when my daughter was born we got an industrial size (about 10 miles) roll of 3 feet wide kitchen film (that thin plastic that's used for wrapping everything). When it was all used, 25 years later (!), we gave its cardboard core a viking burial, boldly in flames it went...

I'd pay tribute to Yoko in this manner.

Yes , I have blessed things that have served me well when it is time to say good bye ….
I'm not materialist , yet I can admit to feeling attachment to the some of the good memories I've had while using some of the things I have owned .

Hi,

Ohhhh I like it! I make a big production of saying good bye to things that made me mad! You should have seen the MC5 box, the email from Craig, the email from God, the email from the spammer in Africa, all good clean fun.

Latest. I got a watch for free from work through a good employee thing, and this past week I had enough of it. It was a Swiss Army ... blah and blah and it was the worst watch ever, and its time keeping was stupid and it was always going 5 minutes late or 5 minutes early.

I threw it down, and then grabbed it and threw it into the trash can with all the vigor and anger of a theatrical production with color lights! "And let that be a lesson to you! GOODBYE!" All of it in my best Marlon Brando stella outfit and feeling! Only thing missing was Werner Herzog running his camera and then compare me to Klaus Kinski! .... nice daughter, btw!!!!
