I've got a place near me that somehow can repair pants like new when they split. The last time it cost me $8.
But, then again, you're nuts, right?

I have a pair of Navy bell bottoms, real deal, bought on the base. They were my um, "trip pants" in another life that I no longer remember. They have well over 150 patches on them. I outgrew them, I got them when I was 18. I do believe there is more patched area than jean area left. They need a refurb but I am afraid to let anyone work on them, maybe I can find an old hippie chick to fix 'em up. They really need to be turned inside out and some kind of thin liner sewn in under the original denim and patches. Otherwise, they will split if I anyone were to try and wear them no matter what is done.
Shoot, I used to patch my own jeans if there was no one else to do it. Yeah, if your pants are not gone yet, get them OUT of the trash and either stitch them up or get someone else to. There are people all over who would LOVE to make a few bucks for stitching something back together, times are tough.
I'm thinking that one day when I am really old.. maybe my old blue jeans will fit again.
I'm going to take a look at the pants you named, I am not familiar with them. I stopped buying Levis probably 20 years ago because of that which cannot be discussed. I went to Lee jeans and was quite happy until the last time I needed new jeans. I will not pay 40 bucks for a pair of jeans, just on principle. I found some Wranglers at WalMart that have a bit of elastic in the waistband, they suit me well, look good, and cost about 20 bucks a pair, last time I bought some.
My younger daughter used to spend 150 dollars+ for a pair of jeans that, IMO, looked like crap. I'll never understand that... but it was her money.
Oh, and yes. I have said goodbye to things before. This probably does not put you in good company, lol.
edit> I looked at them. They look like good pants. Maybe I will get a pair as a gift. I can't imagine how you managed to wear them out, do you use bleach?
