What utility did you use to make the animated gif Steve?  Did you mask each picture to make them circular first or is that a feature of the utility you used?

Microsoft Gif Animator - it's pretty basic, but easy to use.
 
Apparently, it's years old and MS don't update or support it anymore. You can find it easy enough on the web, but some of the sites you can download it from look a bit dodgy to me. If you want the .exe, just PM me your email address and I'll send it over.
 
I rounded the image first, then made 15 copies of it. Rotated them all in multiples of 22.5º and dropped them into the Gif Animator.

Most photo editing software like Photoshop or Elements will do it too.

I've got PS CS6 and use it a LOT, but I haven't run into that ability yet.  I guess I'll have to go look for it tomorrow!

In PE2's Help it's under Optimizing Images for the Web and E-mail > Creating animated GIFs

Open Help and click on Index. Then go to "animated gifs - creating" or whatever yours is listed under.
