  • Melda is no longer crushing my soul...

Hi all,
I posted before about Melda DynamicEQ not losing its Node settings when you load and then start a project. I just bought Spectral Dynamics and that sucker is giving me grief too. I put it on two mono busses and it worked fine. I just opened the project today, no sound at all from those busses. Turning off the MSD allows sound through. Pulling up the interface shows that it is not registering any audio in the sonogram. I have one instance on a stereo bus and it still works.

I know I'm the only one that reported this, but I am loaded with 3rd party plugins and not having any issues other than Waves C1 mono refusing to work due to my plugin location.

I'm so frustrated, but I have no idea what to do at this time...

Anyone else having issues with Melda plugins?

Sorry to hear that James, but Vojtech should be able to get you straightened out.  His support is pretty good.

I've noticed various glitches with Melda plugs too ... usually nothing major, but weird sporadic stuff like my cursor disappearing after bringing up the GUI.

Hope you get fixed up soon ...

Cheers,
Eddie

Thanks Eddie,
It took some work, but I was able to create a tiny project that reproduces the issue and just sent it of to Vojtech. I'll let everyone here know what I find out.

I really want to love his plugins - I hope he can figure out what's happening for me.

Vojtech found the bug and is sending me a new version to test. I still have to create a test project for the DynamicEQ project, but we are on the path to solutions...

One day from problem report to fix - not bad. I'm guessing that whatever fixes the MSpectralDynamics problem will also fix the MDynamicEQ problem as well. I hope he's able to explain to you what it turned out to be. Something unique to your hardware configuration, I 'd guess.

Hope your soul was not crushed beyond repair. Given that I'm the one who urged you to "do it", that'd weigh heavily on my conscience.

I feel the light of heaven 'shin'n and my soul starting to left! :)

He's definitely on it and I'm appreciative. It was pretty frustrating to have some band members come in yesterday and me say "check this out!" only to open the project and have none of the guitars playing. I had to track down the offending plugin with them standing there.

He said it was "basically some mathematical problem cause by the custom attack/release you used in the project" - so not project related. He asked if I'd test a new DLL and I said sure. He thinks it's unrelated to the EQ issue, and I'm going to try and get him a project for that as well.

So far, he get's points for being responsive!

PS: I'll change the title when I get the fix.

What were the attack and release settings? I assume you were using the "processing shape" window to create a custom transfer function?

You are speaking greek to me :) I just moved sliders around for these tracks. Pretty much selected a preset and just moved a few sliders - I have not gone deep with this at all.

So you just got lucky, then. Ever consider a career in software testing? Having a knack for breaking stuff is the main prerequisite.

ha! At the risk of over sharing, I run a 40 person software company and I've written a number of books on programming, so I've broken many many applications (and written my share of bugs too). :)

I've got Vojtech's new DLL and it didn't work. However, I want to test a few other scenarios before I report back. I am going to try and help him trouble-shoot this the best I can...
