I find I can avoid irony if I get my shirts out of the dryer as soon as the buzzer goes off letting me know they're dry.

It's One Size Fits All for me.

Plus, I've no doubt that Frank was a royal pain in the ass and a self absorbed, opinionated tyrant.  Unfortunately many true geniuses are.  But there's no denying his talent and knowledge.  He earned his iconic status.  And deserves it.

PS:  I like Dweezil too:-)

The world is full of nice people and not so nice people. But genuinely brilliant people, on the other hand...

Obviously, we tend to stick to the lowest common denominator when we judge people. Though journalists do sometimes lower that bar even more, so as to judge people on the clothes they wear. Which is why those journalist fellows should stick to the likes of Paris Hilton and the Kardashians, how they lost 10 lbs in 10 days or how their sentimental life has taken a turn for the worst. That's something they can fathom.

After all is said and done, in the case of Zappa, what's left is a monumental body of work and a lot of inspiration, and food for thought. That some egos were hurt is, as a listener, none of my concerns. It's not like he started a war.

Heck, I believe it was the Czech Republic that wanted to make him their Minister of Music.
(Although I could be confusing him with Frank Czappa...)
