Hello everyone,

Over the past year I've been steadily upgrading my sample libraries, but the best brass that I have is what's in Garritan's Personal Orchestra. So, I'm in the market for a brass library. I really love 8Dio's products (I own all of their Adagio strings and their Claire flute, clarinet, oboe, and bassoon), but they unfortunately don't have any brass instruments (outside of their CAGE Brass, which is more an effects library). Using the GPO brass alongside the 8Dio stuff really exposes the difference in quality. Since I have no idea if or when they will be releasing their solo brass instruments, I'm looking into the other major virtual instrument makers' brass selections. I've heard good things about both Spitfire Audio's BML Brass libraries and Cinebrass Core and Pro, but I'm looking for other people's opinions on these two products. Keep in mind that I intend to use them with my 8Dio strings and woodwinds instruments, so their ability to play nice together will factor into my decision.

Have any of you used either of these products (or something else that you found really good) and could give me your opinion?

I appreciate it! Thank you!

P.S. I work mainly a video game music composer.

I have acquired lots of goodies over the years and never got much into the orchestral side of things, letting garratin, IK's crap,  and EW Platnium largely go unused... even have NI session strings pro and Kirk Hunter's full repertoire...( I think KH has the best of the afforementioned, by far and his Concert Brass 2 TVEC 4 is super for the $$$)

for a brass library you should really check out CB2, a steal for the bucks:  http://www.kirkhunterstud.../products_cbrs_ii.html

However, I am finally getting  seriously into orchestral stuff and have fallen in love with the entire range of Albion redux by Spitfire... Just google Daniel James you tubes as he spends an hour on each... and for the money you get HUGE value.  Can't honestly say I'll ever use any of the loads of other stuff I have again cept for Kirks...

I started with Iceni (Albion3) and wet my pants... most awesome powerful Brass your ass will ever imagine... Then, got Albion which is just exquisite.  Am trying to afford Loegria (Albion 2) now as it is just hugely powerful and beautiful.... the "Sackbutts" just kick A...

Now, I know you're just interested in Brass but what you get from these beyond that is just huge. I mean HUGE! and the Ostinatum system they've developed is just awesome!

This is what got me initially hooked... it'll devestate your speakers... listen on a good rig and be blown away... and it's really this good:   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bHAMDJ1PkhU
Also, Daniel James, who was blown away:  www.youtube.com/watch?v=o5gx8Zfs3q8

If I had it all to do over again, I would have gotten Albion 2 next, as they've added 8 gigs of new awesomeness in the last update and the mindblowing percussion is just that...not to mention the exquisite whole package, including the saxbutts... I didn't appreciate until I ran thru all the vids in the past couple days.... spitfire's site has lots of vids on this and Daniel's... is awesome: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_HT9nG3sxPw but it is pre the "redux" updates

I've got lots of 8DIO stuff but decided the playability and exquisite beauty of Spitfire's work was irresistible.  I think you get more in Albion than the BML for the duckets....although trum

Then again, if I'd already invested in all the 8dio stuff... no, I'd still go albion...ya gets oooooodles
but yea, I do love what Christian and the gang over the pond are doin'...

OH!  Daniel has a CineBrass review:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sq38Rlwc17Q&feature=kp He feels it is fun and awesome... and he loves what you can do with minium of midi channels by having different patches triggered with velocities.... but he ends up using Albion in his low end brass work... the review was pretty impressive though...

Just found another, his review of CiniBrass Pro:  ya gots da bucks...watch it!  Quite an awesome song he wrote: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zKi4xC0nPXA

Have fun sorting this out for yourself!  I too am entralled with these new windows into creating impactive climate change music!  Learning to use them is my challenge.  Maybe having a consistent interface is what also excites me about Spitfire... it is the same throughout their entire range of tools... and my brain struggles enough!!!

Well, as I watch more and the new update, I'm adding it to my list... but will hold out for another 30 percent off sale like they had last year...Albion2 first and then, maybe I'll deserve it when I learn Spit and earn the right... but it looks pretty awesome, although KH's CB2 is way cheaper and pretty awesome....as another option.

I have all Albion and it's awesome , can't really comment on the BML Brass ....but the quality is just stunning ....

I do miss crescendo articulations with a staccatto start , i do have to do some tweak to reach that , layering and velocity auto ....anyway great libraries ....

+ 1 on Daniel James videos , very fun to watch ;)

I just wanted to thank everyone for their suggestions and give everyone a quick update.
I ended up going with the Cinebrass Core and Pro bundle. Cinesamples is having a 30% off sale right now and I couldn't pass it up. I had actually saved up for the full $800 non-sale price tag, so now I have an extra few hundred dollars to use. Luckily, 8Dio has a huge release coming tomorrow (July 24th)! They're releasing 18 new libraries. I know six of them are EDM based, but their new Agitato series should be among that list. I'm a huge 8Dio fan so I'm super excited to see what's dropping.

Also, I love Daniel James. I always watch his videos before making purchases.
