Some of you might remember a couple of years ago that I lost my e-licenser and the #$%#@$%#$W% at REFX wouldn't help me out,  Well I finally found it.

I'm contacting Steinberg to see if there's anything to do to protect me in case this ever happens again.

In the meantime, I get to finally enjoy Nexus again.  The people at the company might be a bunch of @#$#@%#$%^ that don't seem to understand customer service, but they do make a fine plugin.

I remember it. I seem to recall it had a life of its own on KVR too.

Glad you found it. It's always in the last place you look, so go there first.

irony it wasn't "brief" .. after certain comments the owner of re:fx made on here, made me not want to buy anything they made... should learn from u-he etc.

did you register the thing with steiny, dunno if you have their products like cubase etc. or not. I have gone back to cubase for a long while now, in the main for a few reasons.

I tried to register it online with them, but have been having problems, so now I'm contacting customer support.  I'm definitely gun shy.  I also have the support plan for my ilok.  It might be $30 a year, but if you have thousands of dollars in licenses on it, well worth it.

And yes, I hope I cost him some business.  Whether he had the legal right to do what he did (which I doubt, fair use gives customers a right to make a copy for backup purposes which he is preventing, but then again, I think he's in Canada).  It's just about the poorest customer service I've seen.

Far better to trust your customers and take them at their word unless you see evidence of dishonesty.  Talk about punishing someone for trying to be honest and actually pay for their software.

It cost him at least one probable customer - me.
