David and David. This is an outstanding publication that puts me in mind of Sound on Sound. I like everything about it. The articles are enlightening and very nicely written.  SoundBytes is a jewel that is not rough cut.

Just read the Steven Howell tribute.

“Hollow Sun advertising emails were the opposite of an annoyance.  I opened them eagerly and they always made my day!”.

How very true! I fear we will not see his like again.

Seriously. This is one of the better zines around. It comes across as more honest than mosy.

Wow, this thread has made my day ... make that made my year.  Thanks for all the positive feedback.  But I want to say that the credit goes to a lot of folks, not least of whom is my coeditor Alex Arsov.  All the writers are all volunteers and some of them put a lot of time into their contributions.  We might get some Free-Sh*t (TM) in the form of NFR software for review, but that's not the reason I do this and that probably holds true for all the other writers as well.

Thanks, all.

The fact that you have a volunteer staff that contributes so much only makes the zine MORE amazing imho.  You just don't get the kind of detail  in most magazines or websites.  bitflipper's review of the Melda dynamic plugins is beyond in-depth.  It truly explains what they do and the differences.  Most reviews read like just a reworded press release with a few things they don't like thrown in for good measure.  Every review i have ever read in soundbytes seems like it was given by someone who actually used the product  for more than the few days they were writing the review.

I just wanted to add my appreciation, as well. Particularly to bitflipper's articles. I can't think of many other reviews that do such a good job of highlighting not only what a plugin does but giving practical uses of where it may prove useful beyond the immediately obvious.
