Out of the blue.. he is not showing up in practices..
Anybody knows of sites where I can download drum tracks only for songs like 'Temple of the King', 'Hotel California' (drums only)?
Also, once I have it, what is the best way to utilize it on stage?
I won't mind paying few bucks for it. Never ventured that area (i am a guitarist)... so no clue what to do at this point..
Thanks in advance

He just quit?  He didn't die or get imprisoned in some strange and exotic fashion?  Wow, that's a new one for me!

I think it would be far easier to just put an ad up for a replacement drummer.  I never found any pre-existing drum tracks (except for some questionable MIDI files) so I usually had to create my own drum tracks from scratch...

Good luck!

craigb(ITYRN)  you normally create drum tracks from hits, not scratches...

Hi,

I'm afraid to say something here. Drummers are a dime a dozen (except in the CH!) and they all sound the same, and they have not learned to work the drums, since Bruford showed everyone that one hand was just a timekeeper.

Well, Moonie and Bonzo leaving us, also left a huge hole in drumming. So few of them today even have the originality that those two did!

wow, Pedro, another low blow.

first I see no need to insult all drummers (make fun, yeah, I can jump on board the "drummer jokes" - but it's all in jest - I have respect for drummers, it's not an easy job.).
second - I have found the opposite to be true.  drummers in this area are hard to find because they're all busy.  some drummers I know are working multiple gigs because they're in such high demand.
The church I used to go to has been searching for a replacement drummer for 3 months now and they're no closer to finding one than when they started.

They both left huge holes in hotel walls.

Are you sure the drummer quit? It has been known for one to have been packed with the band's equipment and never seen again.

Other possible causes include died in a bizzare gardening accident, choaking on vomit (someone elses) or spontanious combustion.

During a two year span when I was in one band (between 1979 and 1981 - before Spinal Tap), we had one drummer first get hit by a car walking across his street, then a second car hit him and decapitated him.  We had another drummer who went the same way that Bonham did (choking on his own drunken puke).  Then a third who got depressed after his girlfriend broke up with him (during one of our backyard, kegger party gigs), went home and overdosed on pills and vodka.  A fourth quit because he wanted to play keys like his dad (Doug Ingle - son of the Iron Butterfly drummer - and still alive!).

Another drummer that I went to high school with (Mike Grove) and who I later played in a band with for six weeks (in late 1984) apparently died not long after the band broke up, but I don't know how.  When our lead guitarist (Craig Goldy) went off to start Guiffria, Mike went to play drums for Mickey Ratt (which later became Ratt).  I never heard of or from him again and it wasn't until a website was set up for one of the high school reunions that I learned he had passed away the next year.

I quit playing in bands before having one spontaneously combust however, which is a good thing since going that way could damage our gear you know.
