From Pink Floyd Facebook page:

Pink Floyd can confirm that they are releasing a new album "The Endless River" in October 2014. It is an album of mainly ambient and instrumental music based on the 1993/4 Division Bell sessions which feature David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Richard Wright. The album is produced by David Gilmour with Phil Manzanera, Youth and recording engineer Andy Jackson. Work is still in progress, but more details to come at the end of the Summer.

Loved the Division Bell era.  Hopefully, everyone involved stays alive long enough to finish the effort.

"The Endless River" -- I cringed inwardly, outwardly and all-aroundwardly at that title. It screams "teen poetry." Getting very cheesy vibes off of this whole thing I'm sad to say.

old leftover tracks from 1994.....
they went back and put some more recent tracks on top of it.

they are calling it 'ambient' because there probably isn't much left to it, since it didn't make the cut in 94, or was never fully realized.

not very excited about this one.

When I saw the title the first thing that hit my mind was the song High Hopes.
"The Endless River" is mentioned in that particular song. Actually it is the last line of the last song on the album.
Maybe it has something to it that could be between Nick, David and Richard or I could be over thinking it.

"A Momentary Lapse of Reason" was so underwhelming that I did not even give "The Division Bell" a chance until many years later.  Who knows?  Youth did some good stuff with Paul McCartney, hopefully he can keep the rest of PF in line as well.

I didn't dislike Momentary - in fact there are a few songs I really enjoy on it. As I mentioned in another thread, there are many Pink Floyds for me, and I enjoy them all, each of them is one of my favorite bands - the Barrett era Floyd, the pre-DSOTM Floyd, and even the David Gilmour Floyd.

To me, Pink Floyd is always in a class of its own anyway, so it may not be a bad thing that there are different incarnations of the band.

That being said, I'm definitely not getting my hopes up for this one. But I'll be curious to give a listen
