Rain
Is on her way. :P

As if that in itself weren't enough to make me happy, our furry family has a new member:

The second we walked into the adoption center, he got up and greeted us. I took him into my arms, he started purring and licking and practically fell asleep.

It was pretty much love at first sight. Plus, he looks exactly like one of our cats, one we adopted last year (on the exact same day that I bought my Les Paul Traditional, incidentally). She's the sweetest thing, so we were under the charm immediately.

I'm quite sure I will. I've been putting a lot of material together recently, and in many case I'm that close to what I have in mind - but the song calls for a big semi-hollow.

For a while yesterday I was tempted by a Gretsch which was the same price - chambered body, Filtertrons and Bigsby. I really wanted to fall in love with it, because, you know, it was a Gretsch and I always thought I needed Filtertrons for the sound I had in mind.

But as it turns out, the big Epi and its P90's are closer to what I had in mind and they do that jazzy thing beautifully, but I can also go Scotty Moore w/ them, and then beyond. Beautiful.

There was a lot of great music written and recorded from an Epi Casino, P90 dog ears, with a natural finish, if you know what I mean...nudge, nudge.

Know what? I was checking out my FB to see exactly when we had adopted that other cat + bought my LP last year. June 27th. We're pretty consistent aren't we? :P

I mention it because I fell on a picture of a Casino I'd posted last fall w/ the mention - after the SG. The entry was dated from 3 or 4 days before I bought my SGJ.

And even though I didn't really think about it when I bought the Riviera, I was just thinking about that and searching the web to see how much they differed, especially since this one has the P90's... I guess I'm killing two birds with one stone.

You're going to like it, Rain.
If you don't already have one, get a wide strap. It's almost as heavy as the Ibanez LP.

Thanks for the pic Robert - it's great to see its size and how it compare w/ the Les Paul (which is pretty nice too, by the way). I do have a decent strap which I think should be okay.

The good news is I've just seen that AMS have a warehouse here in Nevada, in Reno. So theoretically, I should have the guitar in no time once it ships on Monday. Crossing fingers.

In the meantime, I'm already enjoying the positive effects of having a new guitar - I'm recording demos faster than ever since I know I'll be re-recording all the guitar parts w/ the Riviera, anyway. :)

Note the plastic "E" on the pick guard. I think it looks kind of goofy angled the way it ships. it was barely stuck on, and I almost got rid of it entirely. But I rotated it, and it echoed the shape if the bout and strings, almost like an Art Deco motif. It transformed from an oddly placed logo to a design element, so I stuck it down.
