@Rain,
Don't get me wrong, I am happy for you, BUT
Tune-o-matic bridge, bigsby trem;
you're a better man than I if you can keep that thing in tune.

Been there, done that!
First electric was a Tennessean, had the bigs, not a tune-o-matic though.
The "roller" deals weren't really any better.
Been bit by the bigs more than once!
Sorry to tap dance on your parade (rain on your parade didn't feel right)
Two happiest days in a boat owners life (insert horse, bigsby trem, etc.);
ifn you know what I mean.
BUT, I am happy for ya...

Hmmm, I'll be curious to see that. TBH, I've never owned a Bigsby-equipped guitar, and I somehow assumed that they all used a tune-o-matic type of bridge.

Looking at the Gretsch Ajusto-Matic I admit that I can hardly imagine how it could work better than a tune-o-matic - it's very similar as far as I can tell.

At any rate, I'll figure it out. :)

You'll love it.
Setzer gets along with the bigs just fine!

And remember if the Bigs is too stiff or not stiff enough you can easily replace the spring.  I actually prefer a Bigs BECAUSE it's usually stiffer.  Of course I'm no dive bomber.  I simply like to put a little warble on the end of a phrase.

That's what happened to Framptons' LP.

For the moment, I'll only be doing studio work with it AND using it sparingly, a bit like you do OlPal, so I'm thinking that I shouldn't have too much problems with it, unless it's really lame to the point of being unusable.

So far, I've been using my strat to overdub that stuff, but the Fender sound doesn't really match what I have in mind. And I'm expecting/hoping that the Bigsby will be quite stiff - it's exactly what I want.

Bat - Thanks a million for those links!

According to FedEx, the guitar has left the facility at 9:30 ish and is on its way to me. :)

You can avoid a lot of Bigsby problems by doing a couple of simple things. Get some really thin Teflon oil. They used to sell it at the local shop and it comes in a small pen. A tiny drop on each saddle piece when you change strings. Wipe off any extra. Another saddle issue is the slots that people file into the saddle pieces. If the slots on the saddle pieces have any burrs, or if it's not cut for the string size, then it's going to bind or catch string windings. I replace the ABR bridge with one that's not slotted. Never a problem with string spacing or sliding. There's more tension on the saddle pieces than on a wrap around bridge.
The nut is really important and has to be well cut. I also use a drop of Teflon oil in the nut slots. The saddle pieces and the nut are the most important things in having a good vibrato system. The steps I mentioned will also help with tuning issues on any guitar.

Mandy is here. :)

No picture can do this guitar justice. I'll have to get used to the wider neck again, but that won't be a problem. The action needs to be taken down a notch and, as some of you guys mentioned, that logo on the pickguard has some issues.

Otherwise, the guitar is actually pretty flawless and I love the sound of it. :)

Fresh strings, a few minor adjustments and this thing will absolutely rock.
