The man is a serious contender for my summer 2014 Courtney Love award...

Judas Priest too? Man - he's earned that Courtney Love award. And the next.

Until recently, when I thought of Bruce Dickinson, I thought of the timeless classic that is The Number of the Beast.

Which unfortunately, inevitably reminded me of...

Two hours of otherwise perfectly fine live heavy metal music ruined by that Dickinson fellow screaming at the top of his lungs, hitting that one note he could reach, clinging to it and gasping for air for the whole duration of the show...

Autocues never bothered me half as much as that...

Judas Priest forever!

I could never stomach Dickinson's singing. He uses vibrato to cover up the fact that he can't hold a note, and it sounds like a drunk trying to sing opera on the walk home from the pub.

"Punk musicians can't play their f*ckin' instruments". Whether you love or hate the genre, there is no falsehood in that statement. More surprising is that he thinks punk music is still relevant enough to warrant comment.

Up until today, I thought Bruce Dickinson was the name of Christopher Walken's SNL character that coined the phrase "more cowbell".

Oh come on guys,  if you actually read the article Bruce never says "Punk musicians can't play their instruments..."

In fact he's saying the opposite.  He's talking about "the art establishment".
They (the "art establishment") could say: "Oh yeah, we're punk so we can sneer at everybody. We can't play our f*&^ing instruments, but that means we can make out that this whole thing is some enormous performance art."

and goes on to say...
Half the kids that were in punk bands were laughing at the art establishment, going: "What a f&^%ing bunch of tosspots. Thanks very much, give us the money"

And he's exactly right!

Sounded like he made all those opinions up on the spot.

''He believes there's a failure to understand why metal fans love metal, and compares their passion to that of sports fans.''

Oh, reeeally?
