some of them are pretty transparent .

I've bought and used a few beard trimmers with the hopes of being able to do a decent beard trim at home  
 
got no love  there ,  I think I would have had better odds winning in Vegas against the house if I was a gambling man 
 
I have found that the only beard trimmers that don't suck are the professional grade beard trimmers that you run across in a pro salon ...
currently my music and software GAS overrides any hope of me getting a pro level beard trimmer

I picked up one of these up for around £15 a couple of years ago.
 
I liked it so much I nearly bought the company until I found out somebody had already pulled that stroke.
 
It's one of my favourite things still.  I hope it wasn't one of these you were dissing...
 
I used to use a blowlamp but paraffin (kerosene?) is so hard to come by these days.
