You've obviously forgotten about the majestic Carlton Palmer ?

I know virtually nothing about the game. But I might make the observation that English football players seem more concerned with being tacky celebrities than with being world class footballers. 
 
Also, you don't seem to see kids playing football outside in Britain as much as you used to (at least that's how it looked last time I lived in the UK, which was almost 12 years ago).
