They come from rabbits? BTW, maybe it left. Not sure... been raining every day so I haven't set a trap... the cat... it's complicated.

My experience with a stray cat that lived around my place for over a year was that the raccoons usually tolerated it pretty well, and the cat was usually the one who swiped at them if they got too close. In a fair fight, however, a cat is obviously not the smart bet.

My cat weighs in at 7.5 pounds... she steers clear of raccoons. They don't seem to go out of their way to bother her though, I just worry about stuff they carry. One I trapped must have had 10 ticks on each ear.
 
Coons will drown dogs if they can get them to come into the water. A raccoon will get on a stump or log and push the dogs head under water if it swims out to them, they are really smart...
Going to bait a trap now... if I catch one, I'll carry it off. The grand daughters are here...
