As a guitar player who loves synths but can't play keyboard, I have tried all sorts of guitar/midi options without much success. This looks fascinating, so I ordered one:

Any of you have any experience with this? It will be in next week and I'm looking forward to playing with it...

Wow James, that's quite the price for that, but looks really neat.......I'm also in the same boat as you and looking for a good midi controller. I only have used Midi Guitar and have thought about getting the YR2..........now this!!!

Did you get to test it out at all before buying? I'd like to know your review of this once you get it.

Unfortunately, I don't have access for one locally so it's a bit of a risk. My sweetwater rep knocked additional off for me and I don't see them come up on eBay, so I'm thinking I can roll it with minimal hit if necessary. I'm really HOPING I don't have to. I plan to use with soft-synths of course, but I also have a Roland JD800 I bought because it's freaking Amazing, but I can only noodle on it with the keyboard. I'm anxious to hook this up to it directly and control it with the Misa.

I'll post an update on my experience... :)

Hi,

I still think that these old fashioned guitars and basses are preventing music from going much further, but then I saw what happened to synthesizers that took over an orchestra within 20 years!

Synths went so far and away with the sound and abilities, that they are now almost totally out of reach of most people playing them! And no one knows how to set them up! And then someone posted Vangelis in here playing with 30 pedals, and he is an orchestra!

We don't need no midi crap! Just get as many pedals as you want to do what you want!

I saw that on one of the Sweetwater e-mails a little while ago and it looked like some fun could be had. I'll be interested to get your take on it.

I've never seen that. I look forward to hearing what you think of it? With Melodyne ARA why not just use any instrument you play, or voice, convert to midi, then to the bass of your choice?
This Misa may be more fun though...

I think the word Bass is misleading. This is really a new type of midi controller that can trigger any sythn, and even multiples at once. Here's a bit of an example of what you can do with it:

As a guitarist - this is REALLY cool to me - I could play those riffs! :)

PS: jbow, that's a killer idea that I'm going to play with. Not the same as this real-time controller, but still a really neat idea, thanks!

I think it looks like a fun controller too. Still look forward to hearing what you think about it when you get it!
