The PU height is still adjustable, and you can buy pickups at Sweetwater and change them if you want to.

in fact a lot of people change things on a guitar because it is cheaper than buying a new one, put a graphite nut on it, whatever, PUs, even to the point of Seasick Steve's broomstick hubcap guitar (not really) with a beer can on the end and a bolt for the nut to play slide on it.

Actually there are third party PUs also that people use, too many to mention, have to look at the gibson forum board for some of that.

I just don't know all of them and even know how they sound except from others.
Other places too on the web. 20 pages of pickups, some Gibson's about page 9, 15, or so.

Yup - which is why QuickConnect is both a good and a bad news. Good because even I can swap pick ups. Bad because I can't change them for anything but Gibson's QuickConnects. So that limits my choices and mans that the options I have are all pretty expensive - as in, approximately $300 for a pair of pickups.

I'm guessing a lot of folks here could just replace the entire electronics, pots and all w/ traditional ones. But that's beyond anything I can do or care to try.I haven't touch a soldering iron in over 30 years and I still have nightmare about it. ;)

Considering my tastes, I'd be curious to try Seymour Duncan's Whole Lotta Humbuckers - but, thanks to QuickConnect this isn't going to happen.

Oh, I don't know what a guitar shop would charge to change PUs but even quick connects I suppose they can do with regular PUs.
Guitar porn - naked PUs.
Some people have done the job his/her/space-alien self, but a person that works on guitars can be found usually that can do it fast and not charge so much I suppose.

Other PUs, I don't even know about but some people over at the Gibson forum board do, and all of that.

Well, unless you intend to replace everything and throw away the board and the QC option altogether, I don't really think there's anyway to install a regular pick up on a QuickConnect-ready guitar...

I suppose then they would change out everything except the jack that you plug in the guitar with.
??
I mean people change out pots in Epiphones, and capacitors and everything else in a guitar, and do different hookups with them.
Even on a es-339 or es-335 a guitar person (professional or not - luthier) can do that stuff with some of them and a luthier can definitely do stuff like that.
Even some people are starting to make their own guitars (solid bodies of course but even one is doing a semi-hollow body guitar).
If you do a search or reads some forums, you be surprised what some will try and do, and I read about one on a forum who did make is own semi-hollow but could not sell it, because of well intellectual or copyright reasons, otherwise he was going to do that.
Ya, know the lawyers find out, and big no-no since a company like Gibson owns the patents and all of that stuff.

Not that I ever would.
PUs maybe but then a circuit board, well that just has to be taken out and re-do the entire electronics. It is just a circuit just like some people make their own amps also.

That is all that board is - is a printed circuit board that does the same thing, so soldering and using a person to make it like the old way turns out to be cheaper and a person does not have to be used.
