I would like to set up a pedal to run the Wah effects in Amplitube, control MIDI parameters in Timeless 2, etc. Is there a preferred way to go about this? I can't figure out how to use a standard expression pedal with my audio interface, so perhaps there is a midi pedal out there?

Assuming you using it as a plug in Sonar.
 
I am not in the same country as my DAW at the moment so I can't try it but I think you will have to insert Amplitube "as a synth" in order to get it to respond to MIDI. To do this you have to configure It as a synth in the Plug In Manager. Configure as synth option in its properties.
 
Please let me know how you get on as I would be good to have Amplitube's wha wah effects set up like this.

I am running Amplitube as a synth, but I don't have a Wah pedal I can operate over MIDI. I have various expression pedals, but I think I'd need an audio interface that could turn an expression pedal into CC messages. I'm wondering if there is something I can buy for this...?

Do your expression pedals connect through a controller keyboard? Mine connects through my APro 800 and then transmits MIDI through the keyboards USB midi link.

Great question. I have a Roland JD800 - I'll see if I can hook up an expression pedal and pass through the MIDI. If not, maybe a Behringer FB foot controller would do the trick...

I was having a similar issue recently, as I have two Digitech units (a Legend II and an RP-2000), neither of which transmits MIDI expression data.  I just traded my RP-2000 for a Boss GT-3, as it seems that the Boss units transmit expression data.  I haven't hooked it up to try it yet, but I am reasonably certain that it will work.  Your other option would be to get a dedicated MIDI foot controller, like the Behringer FB that you mentioned, or something similar.  You should also be able to use your existing expression pedals via your keyboard, as the other poster said, but how to then get that data into Amplitube is a bit of a mystery to me.
 
I will see if I can't find time to hook up the Boss unit and test it out, and report back.

I have been spending a lot of time with Amplitube lately, and combined with some great delay plugs I'm able to duplicate a lot of my pedal board. Not all, but a lot. I love to create crazy patterns and textures with effects and delay, and being able to come back a day later or a week later and have PERFECT effect settings recall is something I only dreamed of in the analog world; I could NEVER exactly re-capture a set of settings! I still haven't duplicated my shimmer effect (but I have some ideas), and I need to be able to control some things through expression pedals (hence this topic), but MAN ON MAN is all of this re-kindling my creative fire.
 
If anyone is interested, my primary delays so far:

• IK Echoplex. Not the little pedal in Amplitube, but the custom shop version. Closest I've found so far to duplicate the sound of my real EP3.
• Echos. Just starting to dig in but really like the organic sounds of this plug.
• Timeless 2. Just started using a few days ago - this guy can get me into the crazy texture world I love to play in. I haven't tried chaining to this from one of the above - that will be fun. This is what is spurring my expression pedal search - I want to run some of the parameters of this plug with the expression pedal.
• PSP 85. WOW. Only played with the presets but again, looks to be a hugely creative tool.

 

I forgot to ask:  when you say "expression pedal", are you talking about a MIDI expression pedal, like the Roland EV-5, which you would typically plug into a keyboard to use to control various CC messages, or are you talking about a guitar pedal, like a Crybaby wah? 

I want to use a pedal to send MIDI messages to the PC, so probably an expression pedal through an interface. While I will use it to control a Wah in Amplitube at times, I do not want to hook up a Wah.

You've got my interest in this as well. I do have an old Digitech RP-1 which does have MIDI IN, OUT, and THRU which I'd (now) like to set up as a MIDI foot controller for Amplitube as well. I just don't know how to set it up and will probably need to research a little.
