That's a good intro Mesh! I used to run a pretty complicated midi switching system (3 GCX units run by Axess Electronics switching gear) and it was really cool, but really complex. I started to get pretty good at the programming. :)

I may be making this too complicated for myself. Turns out my JD800, which is already hooked up via MIDI, has a port for an expression pedal. I'll plug one in and see if Sonar/Amplitube/Timeless sees it. If that doesn't work, I suspect the Behringer is the cheapest option. Then again, a used GT3 looks like it would work. I think I recall my PC have a Bluetooth driver. Theoretically, the IK Blueboard could be used via Bluetooth with the PC or iPad, and it supports an expression pedal...

Yeah, I figured you might be waaaay ahead of that article......it appealed to me as I'm in the intro stage and thought what a great way to make use of some of my older gear. If it's ok with you, I like to pick your brain and get some tips in setting mine up (once I get it out of storage)........

I'd be careful with an expression pedal that connects into a KB controller via a 1/4" jack.  Using a brand X pedal on a brand Y controller could lead to something getting fried.  A simple sustain pedal is probably safe in this regard, but a KB controller is sending some voltage to the expression pedal and if the voltage and resistance aren't compatible, you might have a problem.  Best bet would be to see if you can buy an expression pedal that's made by the same manufacturer as the KB.
