If you use Wikipedia to diagnose yourself, medical experts state that 90% of the entries in there are inaccurate.........I wonder how accurate are the rest of it is. I've heard that almost anyone can go in there and enter info..........

I read that on Wikipedia, so I'm pretty sure it's right.

Also, it appears that I have Industrial Disease.

wikipedia is absolutely the worst encyclopedia ever.  The problem is the site is easy, fast, and convenient.  For real information you need Britannica..  You also have to pay $

I remember at one point trying to correct/change a few details on the wiki about my wife, at her request, only to have most of the changes "fixed" by someone else a few hours later.

I guess they knew better...

It's almost like if you want the true facts, you have to pay for it.
If you want lies, it's freely available, but "pay for it" in a different way.......soon, they'll start charging for this as well.

Personally, I would rate Wiki's accuracy as a BIG step above the interwebs at large, but...

There are a lot of misconceptions about wikipedia. "Almost anyone can enter info there" is somewhat of an oversimplification. Anyone can make the attempt but wiki has a large staff that constantly monitors and blatantly wrong info rarely stays long. Even accurate but uncited info is clearly pointed out that citation is still needed. Often being removed if citation of sources is never given. Statistically wikipedia has a higher accuracy rate than encyclopedia since timely info is updated rapidly.

If someone is using an enyclopedia diagnose themselves, the problem is not accuracy but idiocy of user. Wiki is meant to be a general simple resource on a huge amount of topics... and it does an outstanding jobbof that. Mistaking that for comprehensive research or expert opinion is plain silly.
