I remember at one point trying to correct/change a few details on the wiki about my wife, at her request, only to have most of the changes "fixed" by someone else a few hours later.

I guess they knew better...

That, or maybe there's some stuff she hasn't told you yet.......... ;)

I've helped translate her entire portfolio for the green card last winter - and actually, there was a lot I never knew, indeed. :P

Wait a minute...  Medical experts are saying that an alternative source of medical information is inaccurate?  Shocking!

A few years ago, a relative of mine was told they had terminal cancer with a life expectancy counted in months by medical "experts". Didn't have it all as it turned out. Hard to imagine that diagnosing yourself on wiki could have gone worse.

There is a great article in Wiki on truth ... not sure if it is all true though.

Yeah Wiki is duff, I first realised when after Singing

"We all love Arsenal, Arsenal FC, by far the greatest team the world has ever seen."

But according to Wiki, we are not the greatest team ever. What a load of horse****!

Isn't Arsenal one of those curling teams trying for the Olympics?

If you use Wikipedia to diagnose yourself, medical experts state that 90% of the entries in there are inaccurate.........I wonder how accurate are the rest of it is. I've heard that almost anyone can go in there and enter info..........
...

Wiki is also inaccurate in a lot of other things, because the people that are putting up information are not verified and their information checked. There are some very gross errors and information, and while it is NOW, way better than any Encyclopedia out there, because at the very least you have some information instead of almost none, in the end, it's still not enough.

There is also a measure of stupidity involved. My own father's entry finally got done a couple of years ago, and of course it was done by some arsenic Portuguese idiot, that put it up in Portuguese with no translation on it, and I guess you know that everyone else around the world will never be able to read anything in there and get any information out of it. I stopped checking for the English version a year ago, but that world of academic jerks are not intelligent enough to know how to get information to anyone else but themselves, as some sort of glorified toilet paper and words!

We haven't even started on rock music yet! Last I checked, Alan Stivell was Norwegian!

So tell us, how do you really feel about Portuguese academics.
