To me it's in a weird zone - it's way too expensive to play it, but since it's just a limited edition copy it's not really special enough to put it in a display case and all and never touch it, you know, just because Jimmy played it for 30 seconds.

The original model would be worth (at least in my opinion) a lot, lot, lot, lot more.
But then some collector would have to buy it, and probably have around a million buckeroos.

Ain't gonna be me.

Of course my guitar LP ought to be worth more too in about 10 years since I played it.

Oh, sometimes I am just funny!

I don't think I could buy a guitar just to display it. As much as like to pretend otherwise, I'm not that much of a groupie and I wouldn't want to own someone else's guitar. Signature guitars usually aren't my thing either, but Page's is pretty awesome on it's own - the unusual pick up combination, the right mixture of custom and classic and that gorgeous colour...  It's not like EVH's stripped guitar or Zakk Wylde's bull's eye LP - it's a lot more subtle for a signature instrument.

But for whatever they end up selling for, you could buy at least a 1/2 dozen nice LP's and have someone switch out the PU's and rewire them however you want (assuming you don't just do it yourself). You can even have masterful refinishing done (however you like) for a reasonable cost.

It's the whole "Jimmy Page" connection that makes it crazy expensive and only for people who have money to burn and don't really care what it costs. It's really a collectible, not a guitar.

There are many very good reasons to display instruments.
(one worth it should also have a beautiful display case IMO)

I've found the hard part is not playing them. I don't do much more
than pull mine out and check to assure tuning is correct and to twist the controls.
Of course it helps to preserve the condition and resist the temptation when one has many others to play.
