Just got an email from Sweetwater (for those who want boxed):

http://www.sweetwater.com/store/search.php?s=s:new-sampletank-3

I assume all the other guys will have it too.

Thanks for posting this.

BTW, I listened to the soundcloud audio demos linked from the ST3 page.  My first impression is that this has some good sounds.  I honestly hope the best for this release.  Even though it has been a long time coming, I hope and do expect that it will provide some useful tools for the studio.  Looking forward to it.

Has it been confirmed that version 3 is still backward compatible with all of the version 2 libraries?

From the Sounds page:
http://www.ikmultimedia.c...pp=sampletank-3-sounds

SampleTank 2 instruments

For your convenience — and to avoid the hassle of converting your previous SampleTank 2 XL sounds — all of those prior sound libraries are included in SampleTank 3. Already imported, properly categorized and easy to access, previous users will immediately find sounds they are familiar with. And new users will have an additional arsenal of bread-and-butter sounds that have made history. Plus, previous users will also be able to import their previous Combi (now Multi) instruments and be ready to go.

The same previous users of Powered by SampleTank sounds and virtual instruments (such as Miroslav Philharmonik, Sonik Synth 2, SampleMoog, SampleTron and Xpansion Tank 2) will also be able to easily import their sounds and Combis to take full advantage of the whole new world of sounds provided by SampleTank 3.

It figures. They finally release it and I can't afford it. I guess I'll be waiting for a sale.

I have looked around but can't find anything about the acoustic pianos pedal support. Curious if any of the pianos support Half Pedaling, Sostenuto, or soft pedal? Maybe IK can provide an answer.

Kind regards,
Rick

Yes, we are missing these types of detail. Do the basses and guitars have legato triggered hammer on and pull off articulations etc. Things we have come to expect from the top Kontakt libraries. Of course it would be churlish to critisise a factory library for not being as full featured as an expensive, dedicated library, but here is the dilema for the would be purchaser, would I, for example, use a ST3 bass guitar in preference to a Scarbee or Orange Tree bass?

While 30GB is on the face of it is a large library it's smaller than the factory libraries of Kontakt, Mach5 and Independence. How much of it is taken up with loops which do not intrest me?, and how much are nice, but not as good as I have already instruments?
