I pretended to be pretentious in middle school. I was warned, "Your face is going to stick like that." I was also told, "If you continue to act like an idiot, no one will ever take you seriously."

Since I didn't see a downside, I kept going. Now, I'm pretentious for real. Sometimes, when no one is throwing large rocks, I'm pompous as well.

A talented girl. I for one seem to have trouble with kids singing music written for older adults, I think part of it is that I know( or at least make the strong assumption) the child has never really had the experience that could have facilitated singing the song with real meaning, so such meaning has to be coerced or contrived.I'm not necessarily referring to this particular girl but am making an across the board comment about any setting where a kid is expected to act like an adult.
What do 8 year old girls think about? Those are the kinds of things I find more believable and acceptable in my personal opinion. There are no rules here, but for the music to have the best impact it must come from the heart and in order to come from the heart the singer should have experienced it on some level....so in my mind kids singing adult music isn't a good fit. It might be cute and make people ohh and ahhh but it seems like more of a fad...and I wonder what kind of a price the kid payed to get there.
